How to Apply

Entrance to the program is made through National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) after appropriate application through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). International medical students should apply through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

Program Structure and Match Information

The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Quinnipiac University Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine/St. Vincent’s Medical Center offers three (3) R1/PGY-2 positions per year through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

This is an advanced residency program, which means that applicants must complete a full year of preliminary training (PGY-1) in the United States prior to beginning radiology training at SVMC. The preliminary year may be completed in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, or a Transitional Year.

We do offer two Preliminary Internal Medicine internship spots at SVMC that are reserved for radiology applicants. However, this program must be applied to separately in the Match.

NRMP Track Number for Diagnostic Radiology: 1080420A0 Radiology-Diagnostic

NRMP Track Number for Preliminary Internal Medicine (Radiology-linked): 1080140P1 Med-Prelim/Radiology-Preliminary

Applicants who wish to complete their preliminary year at SVMC must apply to both programs in order to secure an internship position in Internal Medicine. We dispatch invitations to interview through ERAS separately for each program.

International medical graduates are required to complete the following:

  • Meaningful US clinical experience with a strong background in diagnostic radiology.
  • ECFMG Certification completion is required prior to the residency interview.

We sponsor J-1 visas for international residents.

Both American and international graduate applications require completion of the following items:

  • ERAS Application.
  • NRMP Registration.
  • Three letters of reference ideally from US radiology attendings and faculty members
  • MSPE (Dean) Letter.
  • Trainees must pass USMLE Step 1 and Step 2CK prior to beginning their SVMC postgraduate training.

Due to the large number of applications received each year, we cannot answer individual inquiries regarding application status.
